Mashujaa Day, also known as Heroes’ Day (“mashujaa” is Swahili for “heroes”), is a national day in Kenya, which is observed on 20 October as a public holiday to collectively honor all those who contributed towards the struggle for Kenya’s independence or positively contributed in building the post-independent Kenya. It is a day that Kenyans come together and celebrate their heroes and heroines and honoring Kenyan forefathers who fought for our independence that was granted in 1963.
It is for this reason that renowned sportsman turned musician Samaki Mkuu has teamed up with Romantico, featuring Dinah Ndombi to release a brand new tune dedicated to the holiday entitled “KENYA PAMOJA”.
The song celebrates the miles Kenya has taken to this day, it’s diversity within its people and the cultural heritage the country enjoys. The chorus is a catchy tune with the lyrics “Kenya Pamoja, Tutashinda Nchi Moja, La Mashujaa, Kenya Pamoja” showcasing how Kenya is a country of one people and believes in winning together for its people.
Samaki Mkuu drops the first verse highlighting the prowess of Kenya through its heroes, followed by Romantico who drops the second verse singing phrases in several of the languages spoken in Kenya. This is a must listen to all the Kenyan family out there.
